”In praise of snow and solitude”
Another book on my wish list is this collaboration between Aesop and Playtype. Inward: A Scandinavian Winter Guide, a publication of absorbing diversions for the cold months ahead, covering the sister cities of Stockholm and Copenhagen. It also accommodates a collection of much-loved poetry, quotations, and seasonal recipes. Both companies welcome winter as a time of solitude, respite and creative harvest, embracing the poetic and slightly melancholic tone that characterizes the darker months.
November is such a gloomy month here. Cold, but not cold enough for snow to brighten the streets, just lots of rain and gray skies, day after day. Darkness, rotting leaves, peoples faces are the same colour as oatmeal… We could sure use some diversions!
